The following services are not covered by DriverMD^®, but you may have financial assistance available.

No Insurance can be better than having bad insurance.

Insurance is no guarantee of receiving the care you need and often does not protect you from financial hardship or medical bankruptcy. After paying premiums and deductibles year after year, most people are better off paying cash and saving their money. There is a risk both ways, but DriverMD^® for those who want more control of their financial process. If insurance is provided through your work, we recommend you have both options if you can.

You may qualify for free or discounted services.

Healthcare services are often more accessible than many realize. The combination of these services with DriverMD^® makes healthcare more accessible and affordable. If you lose your job, you are having a baby, and other reasons qualify you for Marketplace plans when you need them. True to use your best judgement as a healthcare consumer to decide.

It is important to regularly check eligibility for these programs, as criteria and personal situations can change over time.

No Direct Hospital Coverage

Proposed Solution: Hospitalization Waiver 501(r) Benefit

Many of our members automatically qualify for no cost or highly discounted rates under hospitals 501 (r) charity requirements. Hospitals must provide care at no or reduced costs to those who meet federal assistance guidelines even without insurance. In your case, insurance may not be necessary. While hospitalization is not covered by the DriverMD^® program, we can advise you on your rights so that you may still obtain care if needed.

Emergency Room Visits

In person ER visits are not covered by our plans.

If you need to go to the ER, Individuals are protected in two keyways to be sure you will be seen and treated if necessary. Please advise the hospital upon admission you qualify under 501(r) guidelines.

Hospitals must provide service. EMTALA (Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act) is a federal law that requires hospitals with emergency departments to provide emergency medical care to anyone who needs it, regardless of their ability to pay or insurance status.

The same Hospital Waiver 501(r) Benefit mentioned above applies to emergency room visits.

Cancer Treatments & Severe Illness

Proposed Solution: Hospitalization Waiver 501(r) Benefit

Like the hospital rules above, we have helped many families in receiving free or highly discounted cancer treatments. We can make no promises, but you may qualify under the same 501(r) benefit to receive care for any severe illness.

If your illness causes a change in your job status, you will also qualify for a Healthcare Insurance Marketplace plan if you apply within 60 days. This is an added layer of protection that can protect your family in case of emergency.
