We are powering the next generation of healthcare-a world where virtual care is more powerful than traditional care. We think the smartest healthcare solutions are those that break down the barriers between providing and receiving lifesaving care. At DriverMD® we power Intelligent driver Health Care.
We have tried to make the process as simple as it can be. The company or organization sends us a census or roster of drivers with demographic data, our team loads the drivers into the platform and then sends a welcome email and text to the drivers showing them how to sign up, log in and use the services. The company or organization provides DriverMD® with new driver’s information each month. We do the rest.
DriverMD® then schedules a meeting with your organization to decide which program they would like the DriverMD® Foundation to fund.
The current healthcare system is 33% fraud, waste, and abuse, 33% administration and profit costs, and only 33% of the cost is for clinical services.
As industry veterans we reduced the costs by contracting directly with physicians, pharmacies, labs, and other services. By doing this, we cut the expense of fraud, waste, and abuse along with the overinflated administration and profit costs.
The savings is passed on to drivers who get exceptional quality care in a convenient, private, and easily accessible format from anywhere at any time.
Our network of highly qualified doctors and specialists is available to you and has a 95% satisfaction rate. In our program, you get a Primary Care doctor, and drivers keep that same doctor so they can build a strong relationship.
Our physicians are rigorously trained, U.S. board-certified specialists with licenses and credentials. They hold Bachelor's (B.A. or B.S.) and either Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degrees.
Our physician assistants are also extensively trained, NCCPA certified, licensed, and credentialed. They hold Bachelor's (B.A. or B.S.) and degrees in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS), Health Science (MHS), or Medical Science (MMSc).
Our nurse practitioners are proficiently trained, ANCC or AANP certified in their respective specialties, licensed, and credentialed. They have Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degrees.
Our behavioral health team consists of master's-level professionals, including Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, and equivalent licensed professionals.
Psychologists require a four-year university degree, often with postgraduate work required.
To become a clinical psychologist, you will need an undergraduate degree (four to five years of college) plus a doctorate degree (four to seven years of graduate school). For this specialty area, most people will spend between eight to 12 years in higher education.
All our providers undergo a meticulous credentialing process aligned with the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) guidelines.
Additionally, they are licensed by the relevant state licensing boards where they practice.
There are no deductibles in our program, meaning driver care starts immediately without any out-of-pocket threshold to meet. This can drastically reduce a driver's annual healthcare spending and simplify finances.
There is no there are no copays for services., ensuring straightforward access to healthcare without added fees per visit. A company may apply specialty treatments such as Psychology and Psychiatry visits. In cases like this where a company might apply, we will be very transparent and will be more affordable than other similar options.
There are no coverage limits on visits or services, and you have access to unlimited Rx prescriptions under our 1,100+ Rx program.
Implementation for an employer is 2-4 weeks. Our dedicated implementation team manages the technical setup. The team at your company or organization simply provides us with the starting census or driver roster and our team does the rest.
For an association, it is just a roster of members and we send information to enroll.
DriverMD® is designed to minimize administrative overhead. Once implemented, the system runs autonomously. Your staff will not need to manage appointments, billing, or claims. We manage all aspects of healthcare delivery, technical support, and driver service.
We simply ask for an updated census or roster each month with new drivers.

Our Clinical Behavioral Health Counselor would approach treating a driver dealing with anxiety after a recent driving incident with a specialized and tailored plan. The treatment would consider the driver's unique lifestyle, including isolation, long hours, and limited access to in-person therapy. Here is how a counselor might structure the treatment:
Initial Assessment and Rapport Building
• Conduct a thorough assessment to understand the driver's mental health history, the details of the incident, and current anxiety symptoms.
• Build rapport and establish trust, especially given the driver's possible hesitations about mental health stigma in the trucking industry.
Psychoeducation on Anxiety and Trauma
• Educate the driver on how anxiety works, especially in relation to trauma responses after a critical incident (e.g., hypervigilance, intrusive thoughts, avoidance).
• Explain the fight-or-flight response and how the brain processes threatening situations.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Techniques
• Cognitive Restructuring: Help find, and challenge irrational thoughts linked to the incident, such as fear of another accident or self-blame.
• Thought Journaling: Encourage the driver to document anxious thoughts and replace them with balanced alternatives.
• Exposure Therapy: Gradual desensitization to driving-related anxiety, through visualization and simulated driving exercises if in-person support is not possible.
Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques
• Teach mindfulness exercises (e.g., deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation) that can be practiced during breaks on the road.
• Encourage grounding techniques, such as the "5-4-3-2-1" method, for managing anxiety in the moment.
Addressing Lifestyle Factors Unique to OTR Drivers
• Sleep Hygiene: Provide guidance on managing sleep patterns despite irregular schedules, as sleep disruptions can worsen anxiety.
• Exercise: Recommend simple physical exercises that can be performed during rest stops.
• Healthy Coping Mechanisms: Discourage reliance on substances like caffeine or nicotine and promote healthier habits.
Trauma-Focused Interventions (if applicable)
• If the driver shows signs of post-traumatic stress, a trauma-focused approach such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) or TF-CBT could be introduced.
Accessibility and Remote Counseling Options
• Since drivers are often away from home, the counselor might suggest:
• Appointments through secure video platforms.
• Phone check-ins during scheduled rest breaks.
Relapse Prevention and Long-Term Management
• Develop a personalized coping plan for future anxiety triggers.
• Periodic follow-ups to ensure continued progress and offer support.
Collaboration and Referrals (if necessary)
• Refer to a psychiatrist if medication might be beneficial for managing anxiety.
• Encourage peer support groups for truck drivers dealing with similar experiences.
This comprehensive approach would help the driver process the incident, reduce anxiety, and regain confidence in their professional driving abilities while respecting their lifestyle constraints.

Scenario:
Lisa, a 38-year-old OTR truck driver, is on a cross-country haul from Florida to Washington. During a scheduled rest stop in a remote area of Kansas, she begins experiencing a sore throat, mild fever, and body aches. She is concerned it could be the flu or a strep throat but is unable to find a nearby urgent care facility and does not want to delay her delivery schedule.
Why DriverMD® Urgent Care is a Suitable Choice:
Immediate Access to Care:
• Lisa uses her smartphone to access the DriverMD® urgent care platform, receiving a video consultation with a licensed healthcare provider within minutes.
• No need to find a physical clinic or wait for hours at an ER.
Remote Medical Consultation:
• The provider conducts a virtual assessment of Lisa’s symptoms, asking about her medical history and current condition.
• The provider decides Lisa likely has a viral infection and can manage symptoms with over-the-counter medications but advises her on warning signs that would require in-person care.
Prescription Management:
• Since Lisa is experiencing mild symptoms but may need symptom relief, the DriverMD® provider sends an electronic prescription for ibuprofen and throat lozenges to a pharmacy near her next stop.
Cost-Effective and Time-Efficient:
• The telehealth consultation with DriverMD® is covered for free, saving her an average urgent care fee of $75 to $180 depending on her current insurance and geographic location.
• Lisa avoids potential loss of income from delayed deliveries by staying on schedule.
Appropriate Non-Emergency Conditions:
• The provider confirms that Lisa’s symptoms are manageable without in-person tests or interventions.
• DriverMD® is ideal for mild illnesses like colds, flu, allergies, or minor skin issues, making it a practical solution for drivers like Lisa.
Health Monitoring and Follow-Up:
• The DriverMD® provider recommends that Lisa watch her symptoms and offers a follow-up telehealth visit if they worsen.
• If her condition escalates (e.g., high fever or difficulty breathing), she is guided to seek in-person urgent care or ER treatment.
• The DriverMD® Physician will follow up within 24 hours to make sure Lisa is doing better.
Other Suitable DriverMD® Urgent Care Scenarios for OTR Drivers:
• Mild respiratory infections (e.g., cold, flu, COVID-19 screenings).
• Skin conditions (e.g., rashes, bug bites, minor burns).
• Gastrointestinal issues (e.g., mild food poisoning).
• Minor injuries (e.g., muscle strain, mild back pain).
• Medication refills for non-controlled substances.
Key Benefits of DriverMD® for OTR Drivers:

• Timesaving: No need for physical travel to a clinic, reducing time off the road.
• Cost-Effective: Cheaper than in-person urgent care or ER visits.
